Secret Room Key PUBG: All Locations, Loot & Routes

secret room key pubg

Finding a secret room key in PUBG can flip a match from a scrap for scraps into a squad rolling AWMs, Level 3 gear and med kits by phase two. Every major map hides at least one locked room, and each one uses its own key, card or bunker mechanic. This guide breaks down where the keys spawn, where the rooms are, and what’s actually inside — so you stop wandering Rozhok hoping for a miracle.

What a Secret Room Key Actually Does

A secret room key is a one-use item that unlocks a specific locked door somewhere else on the map. You loot the key from a set spawn area, then travel to the matching room and interact with the door. The key is consumed on use.

Key rules to remember:

  • Keys are map-specific — a Vikendi key does nothing on Erangel
  • Most keys have a fixed spawn zone but a randomized exact position within it
  • Rooms typically hold Level 3 armor, high-tier weapons, med kits and attachments
  • You are extremely loud and exposed while looting, so clear the area first

If you’re brand new to loot routing, our pubg beginner guide covers the basics before you start chasing rare drops.

Erangel Secret Room Key

Erangel’s secret room is the one most players talk about, and it sits inside the Georgopol container yard. The key spawns on the ground in Rozhok, which makes the run one of the most contested on the map.

The route:

  1. Drop Rozhok and clear the town while checking floors for the key icon
  2. Once you have the key, grab a vehicle immediately
  3. Drive north-west to Georgopol’s stacked container area
  4. The locked container sits among the yellow/red shipping crates

Inside you’ll typically find a mix of Level 3 helmet/vest, an AWM or M24, attachments and heals. It is one of the best single-room payouts in the game — but the sound of the door and the loot tick draws every squad within 400 meters.

Vikendi Security Key & Lab

Vikendi’s version is the Security Key, which unlocks the Security Lab tucked near Goroka. This one is different — the key can drop as normal ground loot across the map, not from one fixed town.

What’s inside:

  • Level 3 armor and helmet
  • High-tier ARs and DMRs
  • Attachments including compensators and extended mags
  • Heals and boosters

The lab is well hidden and often overlooked, which makes it a sleeper pick for squads that already have decent loot and want a second-circle upgrade. The full snowy POI list is in our pubg vikendi map guide.

Miramar Basement Key

Miramar uses a Basement Key system rather than a single secret room. The key drops randomly and opens locked basements found under specific buildings across the desert.

Basements typically hold solid mid-to-high tier loot — not always AWM-tier, but reliable armor, weapons and heals. Because Miramar is huge and quiet, you can often loot in peace if you’re the only squad on that side of the map.

Deston Security Key

Deston’s Security Key opens sub-basement vault rooms in several POIs, with Zeche being the standout. These are the closest thing PUBG has to a “vault run” — an underground room stacked with tier-3 gear and a very obvious loud entry point.

Tips for Deston vaults:

  • Bring a squadmate to watch the entrance
  • Check the elevators and stairwells first
  • Expect other squads to third-party the moment you open the door

Rondo Bunkers & Security Cards

Rondo doesn’t use a traditional key. Instead, it uses Security Cards that unlock underground bunker areas. The mechanic rewards squads willing to commit to a longer looting sequence in exchange for one of the best loot pools on any current PUBG map.

If you play Rondo often, our pubg rondo map breakdown covers the bunker entry points and rotation lanes around them.

Paramo & Taego: The Odd Ones Out

Paramo has a Secret Key that opens locked rooms scattered around the volcanic map. Because Paramo rotates in and out of the map pool, the key is only relevant when the map is live.

Taego doesn’t use a key at all. Its high-tier hidden loot comes from Error Space, a portal-based mechanic where you enter a mirrored area, loot fast, and get out before the timer kills you. It’s a completely different system that we cover in the pubg taego map guide.

How to Actually Win the Secret Room Fight

The loot is only worth it if you live to phase three. A few rules we run in our own squads:

  • Never open the door with your whole team stacked on it — one player unlocks, others watch angles
  • Pre-clear buildings within 200m before committing to the room
  • Loot in a set order: armor first, then weapon, then attachments, then heals
  • Have a rotation vehicle ready — the loot noise is a beacon

Pairing a secret room run with the right loadout matters too. Our pubg best weapons and attachments guide covers what to grab from the room and what to leave.

The Bottom Line

Secret rooms remain one of PUBG’s highest risk-reward mechanics on PC, and every current map handles them a little differently — a fixed key on Erangel, random-drop keys on Vikendi and Miramar, cards and bunkers on Rondo, and no key at all on Taego. Key spawn zones and room locations are stable across matches, but exact positions within those zones are randomized.

Krafton has adjusted secret room mechanics multiple times in past updates, so if a room feels different from what you remember, check the patch notes — we’ll refresh this page when the next meaningful change lands.
